What/who
is the American Council on Education?
Founded in 1918, the American Council on Education
(ACE) is the nation’s unifying voice for
higher education. ACE serves as a consensus
leader on key higher education issues and seeks
to influence public policy through advocacy,
research, and program initiatives.
By fostering greater collaboration and new
partnerships within and outside higher education,
ACE helps colleges and universities anticipate
and address the challenges of the 21st century
and contribute to a stronger nation and a better
world. Members and associates include approximately
1,800 accredited, degree-granting colleges and
universities and higher education-related associations,
organizations, and corporations.
Three key strategic priorities drive ACE’s

Do
all courses offered by STAT-A-MATRIX qualify
for credit?
The American Council on Education has recommended
for college credit the following courses: Design
for Six Sigma (DMADV), 5- and 10-Day Six Sigma
Green Belt Training, Six Sigma Black Belt training
and certification programs, Six Sigma Master
Black Belt Training, Process Management for
Six Sigma, Introduction to Lean Enterprise,
and Auditor/Lead Auditor Training for ISO 9001,
ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, and AS9100.
Will all
colleges and universities accept your courses
for college credit?
It depends upon the college or university. Each
institution is autonomous and sets its own policies
on accepting outside credits and ACE credit
recommendations. Check with your school to find
out if they will accept an ACE transcript of
the course(s) toward a degree program at their
institution.
What
does successful completion mean?
- Auditor/Lead Auditor Training for
ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, or AS9100:
Passing grade on quizzes and final
exam, project work, and meet attendance and
in-class participation requirements.
- Design for Six Sigma (DMADV): Passing
grade on examination, project work, and meet
in-class participation requirements.
- 5-Day Six Sigma Green Belt Training:
Passing grade on final exam and meet in-class
participation requirements.
- 10-Day Six Sigma Green Belt Training:
Passing grade on final exam and meet in-class
participation requirements.
- Introduction to Lean Enterprise
and Lean Certification: Passing grade
on final exam, project work, and meet in-class
participation requirements.
- Process Management for Six Sigma:
Passing grade on final exam and meet in-class
participation requirements.
- Six Sigma Black Belt Training:
Passing grade on final exam and project
work.
- Six Sigma Master Black Belt Training:
Passing grade on final exam and meet
in-class participation requirements.
Does
it matter if I took the training at a public
course or at my facility?
No, it doesn’t matter.
How
many credits can I receive for courses taken
and are the credits retroactive?
The courses and their respective credit recommendations
are listed below. The courses have all been
recommended at the graduate level and are also
accepted at the undergraduate level. The credit
recommendations are retroactive as specified
below for each course. For example, this means
that someone who successfully completed the
Design for Six Sigma course as far back as August
1999 is eligible to receive the credit recommendation.

Do
I have to be pursuing a degree to obtain the
credit?
Yes, you need be actively enrolled in an accredited
graduate or undergraduate program.
Do
the courses qualify for undergraduate or graduate
credit?
They qualify for both.
How
do I register with ACE to receive the credit
recommendations?
Upon successful completion of your course(s)
and all requirements, you need to register with
ACE. The url for the online registration site
is: https://www.acenet.edu/transcripts/register/.
Follow ACE directions for course registration.
Upon completion, ACE will send an email notification
to The SAM Group contact requesting confirmation
of the information you provided. If all requirements
have been met, you will receive confirmation
within 48 hours.
How
do I access my ACE transcript once I have registered?
You can access the ACE Online Transcript System
at https://www.acenet.edu/transcripts/
available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
What
if I took a qualified course but did not meet
all of the criteria for successful completion?
Can I still apply for credit?
Unfortunately, if you did not meet all of the
course requirements for successful completion,
your course information cannot be submitted
to ACE.
What is
the fee to register with ACE?
There is a one-time $45.00 fee to establish
your education record at ACE and receive one
transcript; there is a $15.00 fee for each additional
transcript requested. There may be a charge
from your college or university—you will
have to contact them directly.

a per-credit fee for individuals applying for
